RADIESSE® is an FDA-approved synthetic dermal filler that is injected into the face to improve moderate to severe facial folds, creases, and wrinkles. It also stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen to enhance its effects. The result is a smoother, younger-looking, refreshed face.
What is RADIESSE®?
Dr. Trovato usually recommends RADIESSE® filler to his patients who desire to eliminate smile lines, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and other facial wrinkles. The product contains microspheres composed of a water-based gel with calcium hydroxylapatite. This substance is derived from the minerals that make up our natural bones. RADIESSE® microspheres stimulate the natural growth of collagen in the skin, developing new tissue to produce longer-lasting results.
Who is right for RADIESSE®?
Patients with noticeable signs of aging in the face are great candidates for RADIESSE® filler, particularly those with prominent smile lines and marionette lines. It may also be proposed as a great alternative to implant surgery, as it can be used to augment the nose, chin, and cheeks. For extreme skin aging, patients may opt for other cosmetic options such as a facelift.
What’s involved in a RADIESSE® Filler Injection?
Like all fillers, a RADIESSE® injection is fast, lasting only around 15 minutes. A topical numbing cream is applied and then the RADIESSE® filler is injected under the dermis and subcutaneous layers of the skin.
How does RADIESSE® Filler work?
During the first three months after injection, RADIESSE® acts like a cosmetic filler by plumping the skin to improve the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles. Beyond those results, as the body absorbs the filler, the microspheres in RADIESSE® stimulate collagen production in the skin at the treatment site.
How long Do RADIESSE® Injections last?
RADIESSE® filler produces immediate, long-lasting results. Patients will notice significant results immediately following treatment. These results will last up to one year, but the collagen-boosting benefits continue beyond that time. However, to maintain the wrinkle-filling results, another RADIESSE® injection will need to be scheduled.
