Blepharoplasty FAQs

There are always things we find uncomfortable about our appearance. Why we find ways to pick on ourselves may come from a desire to appear humble, or just want to be perfect. Though there is no such thing as perfect, we live in a world that makes it easy to adjust and tweak those parts of ourselves we find unbearable. Sometimes these tweaks can truly change our lives! For example, blepharoplasty can help you see better if you have sagging skin dipping down into your vision and weighing down your eyes.

If you’re interested in learning more about blepharoplasty and how we can help you see better (and help others see you better!), then keep reading.

What does it treat?

Cosmetic eyelid surgery, called blepharoplasty, is a plastic surgery procedure that aims at adjusting the areas around the eyes. We remove excess skin and fat above and below the eyelids to open your eyes up more, giving you better vision and better self esteem.

An upper blepharoplasty targets the excess skin and fat that rests above the eyes, weighing them down. We can remove this extra tissue and give your eyes a more open, smooth appearance. A lower blepharoplasty targets the bags of fat that develop under the eyes over the years. A small amount of excess skin may also be removed to help give the area a natural appearance.

Blepharoplasty is recommended for those of us who have excess skin sagging into their line of sight, and even for people who are uncomfortable with the amount of skin and/or fat around their eyes. If you feel like it could improve your quality of life, then blepharoplasty might be a good option for you.

Is it covered by insurance?

Blepharoplasty is a procedure that can be done for medical or cosmetic reasons. That being said, your insurance will need to be consulted. If your blepharoplasty is deemed medically necessary, then your insurance may cover the cost. If your blepharoplasty is for cosmetic reasons, then insurance will not likely pay for the procedure.
