Your neck is often the first part of your body to show signs of aging
With hanging skin and deep wrinkles that make you look much older than you actually are. In these cases, Dr. Trovato can perform a neck lift to sculpt and smooth your neck for a younger, natural-looking appearance.
Also called a lower facelift
A neck lift is a plastic surgery procedure that improves the signs of aging in your jawline and neck. In addition, a neck lift can address some lower facial issues, such as excess fat and sagging skin on your lower face, excess fat deposits under your chin, and loose neck skin.
If you are experiencing excess wrinkling or loose skin in the neck region
Such as a double chin, “turkey wattle,” and jowl lines, you may be an ideal candidate for a neck lift. As you age, some areas appear to age faster than others due to heredity, environmental factors, and stress. In order to go forward with your neck lift surgery, it’s important for you to be in overall good health, be a non-smoker, and have a healthy outlook about your results.
You’ll need to decide with Dr. Trovato between two incision options.
The first type of neck incision is the traditional incision. It usually begins in the hairline, at the level of the sideburn, and will continue down and around the ear, ending in the posterior hair. As a result, the tissue under your neck skin will be repositioned, and your muscles tightened. In addition, there might be a need for a separate incision under the chin to perform liposuction and muscle repair.
Another option is a limited neck lift where incisions are located only around the ear. As you would expect, these limited incisions also limit the results that can be achieved.
Your neck lift surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure
However, you will receive general anesthesia and will need to arrange for a ride home. Once Dr. Trovato makes the incision, your underlying neck skin tissue is repositioned, tightened, or trimmed. Liposuction may be used if needed. Finally, skin adhesives or sutures will close your incisions.
When you want to improve the signs of aging but are not ready to have surgery, there are non-surgical treatments as a viable option to improve visible signs of aging.
Neuromodulators such as botox can be used on vertical bands of the neck and help to relax your muscles and reduce wrinkles.
Dermal fillers will restore volume to your skin, and other injectables like Kybella will destroy fat cells.
RF treatments, along with a microneedling session, will rejuvenate your skin by reproducing collagen.
Ultrasound technology will stimulate collagen production and improve fine lines and wrinkles.
myEllevate is an exciting, innovative facial rejuvenation procedure that offers long-lasting results by using the ICLED® light-guided suture system to place a suture support without incisions, which immediately elevates underlying structures.
Dr. Trovato will bandage your neck and face to help minimize swelling
You will have specific post-operative instructions for caring for your surgical drains and the incisions. It’s essential to thwart the potential for infection, so you may be prescribed oral medications. Equally as important is to keep your head elevated above your heart and limit the movement of your neck. Do not apply ice packs as this will disrupt the flow of blood to your neck area and cause issues with the skin of your neck.
It will take up to six weeks for swelling to dissipate and up to six months for the incisions to minimize in appearance.
Once the swelling subsides, you will see remarkable improvement as your neckline is more taut and appears younger and more rejuvenated. Your neck lift results are long-lasting as long as you establish a consistently healthy lifestyle and sun protection regimen.

You will be given a local anesthetic and will not feel anything during your surgery. After your procedure, any pain or discomfort is managed with over-the-counter pain medications. It’s imperative not to use ice packs or cold compresses on your neck as this can limit the blood flow to your neck and cause severe skin issues, such as skin death.
The risks involved with a neck lift include bleeding and infection, pain and poor wound healing, and hair loss along the incisions. You may also experience nerve damage and numbness, and facial asymmetry. In rare cases, deep vein thrombosis can occur. Dr. Trovato will discuss all of these possible risks with you during your consultation.
Due to swelling and tissue trauma, you won’t be able to see the full results of your next lift immediately. It can take a few months for the swelling to subside and the tissues to adapt to their new slimmer profile. Once this has happened, you will see a younger, smoother-looking neck with far fewer wrinkles and creases.
Dr. Trovato will go over the procedures and details of your surgical cost with you during your consultation. The price of a neck lift is different for each Dallas neck lift patient because each procedure is tailored to the patient’s specific needs.
A neck lift is considered elective or cosmetic surgery and is not covered by your health insurance. However, Dr. Trovato does offer payment and financing options for your convenience.
Yes, you can combine surgical procedures with your neck lift. Dr. Trovato will discuss optional procedures during your consultation. For example, many patients often choose to include a brow lift, eyelid surgery, and a fat transfer.
