Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) in Dallas, Texas
Blepharoplasty is the answer for aging, tired eyes that look puffy or saggy. Eyelid surgery removes excess fat, skin, and muscle from the lower and upper eyelids giving them a much younger appearance. It is a quick procedure, lasting only around 45 minutes, but the results are long lasting and very rewarding.
What are the goals of EYELID SURGERY?
Beyond cosmetic reasons, eyelid surgery can also be performed to correct functional problems with the eyelids. Specifically, it is done to treat:
- Loose or saggy skin, which can create skin folds that disturb the natural shape of the upper eyelid, and can even block vision
- Excess fat in the eyelids, causing puffiness
- Bags under the eyes
- Droopy lower eyelids, revealing the white underneath the iris
- Excess skin and wrinkles in the lower eyelid
What happens during a blepharoplasty?
On the upper eyelid, the incision is made in the natural crease, hiding it almost completely. Fat is then repositioned, eyelid muscles are tightened, and excess skin is removed.
On the lower eyelid, the incision can be made just below the eyelash line, at the corner of the eye, or even on the inside of the lid. Like on the upper eyelid, fat is repositioned, muscle tightened, and excess skin trimmmed.
What can I expect from my recovery from blepharoplasty?
As you recover from eyelid surgery, Dr. Trovato will give you thorough instructions. They will include cold compresses and lubricating ointments on the eyelids. Healing for blepharoplasty is very quick in most patients. There will be some swelling and slight bruising, but this passes within a few days. At that time, patients can return to their normal activities.
